Dear Families,
We are still on a high from Out and About weeks and all of the exciting experiences our children had! We have already received wonderful feedback from families on the gate and look forward to collecting more feedback via a Google Form coming out later in the term.
We are excited to welcome Shelley Ellis as our new Wellbeing leader beginning in Term 4. Shelley comes to us with many years experience in Catholic Education and leadership in Wellbeing. She has also recently completed a counselling degree and will be able to facilitate small group counselling sessions and social skills groups. This will mean that Sally Tyrell from Creative Healing will be finishing with us at the end of Term 3. We are grateful to Sally for the wonderful contribution that she has made to our school and the way that she has supported our students.
MACSSIS
In 2023, our school is participating in the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings Yrs 4, 5 & 6 students, families throughout the school and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne. We will facilitate these surveys with our children.
Wakakirri
We want to congratulate our Year 5 & 6 children and the staff involved in Wakakirri for winning a State Award! They are now performing at the Awards Showcase Night on Friday 8th September . It is on this night that we will find out which schools will be considered for a National Award. We wish them all the best!
Students not returning in 2023
It’s hard to believe but we are already planning towards 2024. Before we begin the process of looking at next year’s class lists it is important to know who will not be returning next year. If your child is not returning in 2024 (other than Year 6 students), please let the office know.
In the coming weeks we will begin the process of class placements taking into consideration the varying needs of each child within the school. We believe it is important that we have as much information about each child, to ensure that all their needs are fully considered throughout this process.
Parent Teacher Chats
On Friday 8th of September, we will be having our Parent-teacher Chats. These aim to foster positive relationships, build family engagement, and keep you informed about how your child is doing at school. If your child currently has a PSG Meeting, this will count as your parent-teacher chat and you DO NOT need to book an appointment. Booking times run during the day and can be attended online OR in person.
Booking links have been emailed out. If you have not received this link, please check your SPAM or email the office.
Fathers Day
To all the Father's, Grandfathers, Step Fathers & other Significant Father figures in our wonderful St Gabriel's community. We are looking forward to welcoming you to our Father’s Day Celebration on Friday 1st September at 8:00 - 8:50 am for coffee and a brekky treat. Thank you to those who have filled in the RSVP - see you there!
