Mabo House News
Dear Mabo Students, Staff and Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and excited about the fantastic happenings at HPSC. As we delve into the heart of Term 3, we have much to celebrate and share with you!
Celebrating Successful Course Counselling Sessions
We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our recent Course Counselling Sessions. It was truly heartwarming to witness our students and their families engaging in meaningful conversations about their academic pathways. The commitment and enthusiasm shown by both students and parents were truly inspiring. A big shout-out to our dedicated counsellors for their guidance and support throughout this process. Remember, this is just the beginning of an exciting journey toward your academic and personal goals!
Student Led Learning Conferences
On behalf of Mabo a warm thank you to those for their engagement, collaboration, and partnership in Learning Conferences. These interviews provide a unique opportunity for parents, guardians, and teachers to come together and discuss your child's progress, share insights, and co-create strategies for their success. The active participation of parents and guardians in these conversations is truly commendable and reflects the strong bonds that make our HP community so special.
Mentor
This term the Mentor program has been jam packed with meaningful learning experiences for our students. A huge thank you to Ms Riley for organising Carmen’s Road Safety presentation. Our students were so grateful for the opportunity to hear Carmen’s story and drive home the importance of being vigilant on the roads. Our Year 9s have experienced Monash Multiverse presentations organised by our fantastic careers team to explore pathways at university and engaged in a tabloid sports house challenge for a bit of fun. The winners of the tabloid sports were Mabo 1 – Congratulations! Our year 12 students had a health and wellbeing session to support them in preparing for exams and being mindful of protecting their wellness in stressful times. Our school lawyer has also done some fantastic presentations on consent and changes to the laws to keep our students up to date and safe. And a warm thank you to our wellbeing team for their presentations on safe partying.
🏫 What's On: Exciting House Competitions!
Get ready to showcase your talents and competitive spirit in our upcoming House Competitions!
🏆 House Poetry Competition
Mr Shinkfield has arranged a fantastic competition to celebrate Book week. Unleash your creativity and join fellow house members in a battle of words and emotions. Whether you're an aspiring poet or just enjoy playing with words, this is your chance to shine! Prepare your verses and let your poetic prowess be heard in Week 7. All submissions go to your house office. May the most moving and imaginative poem win!
Uniform Raffle
Each day Mrs Belgrove has asked all yard duty teachers to hand out raffle tickets to students who wear their uniform with pride. All students who are in uniform get a raffle ticket as they enter the school. Each day students have the chance to go into the draw to win a canteen voucher and treat themselves to a nice lunch!
♞ House Chess Tournament
Strategists and thinkers, this one's for you! Mr Pelicanos is going to put your mind to the test and participate in our thrilling House Chess Tournament. Engage in a game of wits and tactics, and represent your house in the ultimate chess challenge. Will you be the one to claim victory on the checkered battlefield?
Girls Day Out
Mr Knowles and I have been working with HPE staff to determine our high performers in HPE subjects. These students have been selected to have a day out of surfing, to empower females to get into physical activity opportunities they may have not experiences before and celebrate their hard work. This excursion will take place on 11th September and we are so excited!
A reminder from Ash our House Admin, if your child is going to be a way please remember to call in or log it on compass 😊
On behalf of the Mabo team we hope the remainder of the term is fantastic and look forward to continuing our work together.
Take Care!
