Grade Six
So far, term three has seen many fun activities and events including Athletics, Pyjama day, Student Led conferences as well as author visits from George Ivanoff and Amelia Mellor for Book Week, which everyone has been preparing for.
In Maths, each grade six class have been creating our Geometric Cities. These are comprised of 3D buildings that we have made over the last two weeks. We have been learning about the different properties of 3D shapes, their nets and interior angles.
In English we have been focusing on information reports, where each student chose a topic of their choice and wrote an information report about it. All of these reports were excellent, and everyone learnt a lot in this unit.
Recently, each of the grade six classes have been allocated a day in the kitchen to take part in the annual Masterchef competition, where students are in groups and get one hour to cook a main and dessert. The judges (That class’s teacher and Rosemary) taste each group’s creation and choose a winner from each grade. The winners get to participate in a cook off against Rosemary, where there will be ingredients chosen that must all be featured in the main or dessert.
Upcoming we have our free swimming lessons at Casey Arc for all grade six students, our father’s day breakfast and grandparents afternoon where all grandparents or special persons get to come in and do something special with their child at school. Everyone is looking forward to these events, and I hope each person enjoys all of them.
