Principal Report

Over the past few weeks our school as a whole has been caught up in the incredible achievements of the Matildas in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Their achievements have lifted the profile of women’s soccer and women’s sport in general. It would be great if this is a catalyst to increase the profile, coverage, participation and pay going to women and girls in sport. Many of our eminent & distinguished female athletes have to rely on part-time work to supplement their income and to survive financially. Increased coverage will hopefully lead to our women being able to dedicate their time to chosen sports and not just survive, but earn a living and make a career out of it. Our hopes are with the Matildas as they finish of their World Cup Campaign – “Go Matildas!”

Over the past couple of weeks our Grade 3s & 4s went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo.  We timed the weather well and the students saw over 320 species of wildlife in their habitats.

On Friday 4th August Robo Cup 2023 took place being held at Ramlegh Park Primary School Clyde North. Robo Cup is a coding and robotics challenge, where students compete against other schools. It is a collaborative and positive event, where all students assist each other in gaining points and completing all of the challenges on the day. This was a great experience for our students and overall our Robo Cup teams did very well.

As a part of Book Week we had the authors Nicky Johnston  and George Ivanoff visiting to speak about their experience as authors and to  workshops with students. Our Prep to Grade 3 students enjoyed an interactive incursion by Perform Education based around Book Week.
