Senior Unit - 5/6

What a fantastic and busy couple of weeks we’ve had! On the 23rd of August, the whole school celebrated Book Week. The costumes were really amazing and the students put a lot of thought and effort into them! We read a shortlisted book called ‘My Strange Shrinking Parents’ and the students completed a reading, writing and craft activity based on the book, in the afternoon. Some students also participated in the colouring-in and poetry competition. Thanks SO much to the parents who attended our open classrooms!

Over the last couple of Wednesdays, the students have been participating in Mathematics groups based on their needs. The students completed activities that developed their multiplicative thinking skills using manipulatives and problem-solving tasks. We have now begun a new topic on division, where the students are learning various division strategies.

In Writing, the students have continued to develop their hybrid animals. The detail the students are going into is incredible! This week we have started planning and writing about their animals using figurative language. They also had a go at creating a Google website! Stay tuned for some links to these later on!

On Friday some Senior classes worked with their buddies to create a gorgeous card for their dad/special person. We hope all of the special people had a wonderful day on Sunday!
