9 Amazing Dancers - 2 Incredible Shows

After twice weekly rehearsals since early in the year, in addition to hub rehearsals with other schools in the area throughout the year, nine of our extremely talented students departed Pakenham on Thursday, 7th September for a three day intensive camp in the city to perfect the timing of the choreography at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular - Where every second of their performance had to be synchronised with all other dancers. 

Not only did our students succeed in this endeavour, but their energy, expressiveness and keen sense of rhythm stood out amongst the crowd. They were easily spotted by audience members on the other side of the arena, giving it their all in every single appearance they made throughout the event.

Our Principal Dancer 

After teaching himself to dance watching videos during Covid lockdowns, James Nimaya auditioned along with 1000s of other students to be a part of the Victorian State Schools Spectacular - his penchant for Hip Hop shining through - even though he also had to audition for other styles including ballet, as part of the process.   James' passion and exceptional natural talent for dance was evident throughout the auditions, and he gained a spot as one of the 23 Principal Dancers of the event.

As with our dance troupe, James gave a stand-out performance in both shows, with his impressive presence on stage. He nailed every single dance routine and demonstrated tremendous charisma wherever he was in the arena.

We would like to thank James, Shelbi, Gracie, Katie, Owen, Matilda, Kaneisha, Abbie, Kyra and Lily for all of their hard work this year and we can't wait to see what they do next year!
