'In a world where you can be anything, be kind.'

The Pillowcase Program

Last week our students in Years 3 and 4 participated in an one hour workshop delivered by the Red Cross. The Pillowcase Program helps children prepare for, cope with and respond to an emergency. The workshop encourages children to be active participants in their own emergency preparedness and helps to reduce real and imagined fears.

In the workshops students were involved in discussions and interactive activities to help students them understand and discuss the importance of being prepared. Prepare their mind for the thoughts and feelings that may arise before, during and after an emergency. Each student is was given a pillowcase to know what to pack in an emergency kit which they were able to decorate and take home, to start their own personal emergency kit.
