Art Club
In Art Club, students celebrated Reconciliation Week by completing “All In” colourings and discussing the significance of reconciliation and why it is important in Australia. Students reflected on the importance of respect, inclusion, understanding, and building positive relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider community. Through this activity, students explored how coming together and valuing different cultures helps create a stronger and more united future for everyone.
‘ALL IN’ means everyone gets involved.
“It’s about learning the truth, standing up for fairness, and showing respect for Aboriginal people every day. It also reminds us that we’re connected to our past, our present, and our future, just like the stories from the Dreaming and the way Country holds our memories. Reconciliation grows stronger when we all care for each other and for the land, and when we choose actions that help build a better future for everyone.
Connecting Gathering symbols flowing through an image of Australia shows our unstoppable need for growth and learning, surrounded by Country and culture. It reminds us that we’re linked to the past, present, and future. When we go ‘ALL IN’, we honour those connections and help build a stronger, fairer future for everyone.”
Year 3 Decorative Lanterns
In Year 3 Visual Arts, students explored line, shape, space, repetition and texture through a range of exciting construction and textiles projects. Students designed and created colourful Chinese Paper Lanterns inspired by Chinese Art and culture. They used repeated patterns, symbols and detailed line work with coloured markers to decorate their lanterns before adding vibrant tissue paper to the negative spaces to create a glowing effect. Students then carefully constructed their lanterns into three-dimensional forms and reflected on their learning through self-assessment. Later in the term, students designed and began constructing creative sock puppets using line, shape, pattern and texture. It was wonderful to see students using their creativity and imagination while developing their construction skills.
Happy Creating,
Adele (Visual Arts Teacher)
