📚 Library News: National Simultaneous Storytime is Here! 📚

The wait is officially over! This week, our Library focus is completely dedicated to one of the biggest highlights on the Australian school calendar: National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) 2026.

On Wednesday, 27 May at 12:00 pm, our students will join over a million children across Australia and New Zealand to read the exact same book at the exact same time. This vibrant annual initiative by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) celebrates the joy of reading, literacy, and the power of Australian children's literature.

🦘 This Year's Book: Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller

This year, we are thrilled to be reading Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller, written by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton, and published by Little Book Press.

It is an energetic underdog story that our students are going to love. Together, we will cheer for Luna Roo as she navigates challenges and finds her inner strength on the field. It is a wonderful tale about perseverance, identity, and teamwork—themes that tie perfectly into our school values.

🌟 Inclusive Storytelling for Every Reader

A beautiful aspect of NSS 2026 is its commitment to ensuring every child can participate. This year, the event features wonderful accessibility supports, including resources from Vision Australia for low-vision readers and instructional videos from AssistiveWare to support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) users.

If you would like to explore these resources or read along at home, families can find everything on the NSS 2026 page of the ALIA website.

We cannot wait to share this reading adventure with our students on Wednesday! Thank you for encouraging a love of reading at home.
