RECONCILIATION WEEK - COLOURING COMPETITION
During Reconciliation Week, students took part in a range of meaningful activities including a colouring competition, art, shared reading, and classroom learning that strengthened understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories.
Our FIRE Carriers worked collaboratively to create one special artwork representing how Holy Rosary is “All In” for reconciliation. This collective piece reflected a shared commitment to respect, unity, and walking together. We thank our FIRE Carriers: Leila P, Azyln B, Annabelle R, Will R, Isaac B, Hudson M, Maia S, Erin A, Indy B, Edison P, Jack O, Gracie H and also Reilly D who supported creating the work. They played an important role in bringing the school’s vision to life through their artwork.
Congratulations to our Reconciliation Week colouring competition winners, Senna C and Mack H, for their outstanding efforts. Thank you to everyone who took part in the activities and entered the colouring competition. Your enthusiasm and creativity made the week a meaningful celebration for our whole school community.
GRADE 2CW NEWS
In our recent learning, we have been reading and writing about The Story of Rosy Dock by Jeannie Baker, exploring its rich themes and detailed illustrations. Inspired by the book, students created their own artworks using natural materials such as sand, grass, leaves, and leaf rubbings, reflecting the textured collage style seen in the story. We also incorporated an Indigenous-inspired approach, encouraging students to connect with the land and use natural elements thoughtfully and respectfully in their designs.
