From the Principal

During our series of parent information evenings to commence the year, the College’s strategy to ‘smooth’ class numbers in upper Primary (Years 5 and 6) and throughout the Secondary School from 2026 was unpacked.
In short, it was explained that the College will transition from two classes of 30 students in Years 5 and 6 to three classes of 25/26 students per class from 2026. It was also explained that the Primary School will remain a two-stream Primary School, with the exception of Years 5 and 6.
In the Secondary School, the College will move from classes of 32 students in some years, to classes of no more than approximately 27/28 students across the whole of the Secondary School from 2026. As previously explained, this beneficial shift to support improved learning outcomes will in no way change the Secondary School Houses nor the size of Homeroom classes.
To realise this objective in support of our focus on Inspiring Educational Excellence, the College has been working on the design of seven new temporary classrooms for installation in time for the commencement of the 2026 academic year. Four temporary classrooms will be dedicated to Secondary School use, and three to Primary School use.
Since this strategy was first announced to our community, much work has been undertaken to ensure the temporary classrooms are fit for purpose and located appropriately. I am pleased to report that the locations for the temporary classrooms have now been determined and are as attached.
In addition, the College is also exploring the possibility of an additional classroom for lower Primary to enable more days for parents wanting to access our Pre-Kindy and Kindy offering. Currently, the number of days is restricted because Pre-Kindy and Kindy share one classroom across a week.
We look forward to providing further updates about these and other initiatives as the year progresses.
Finally, we congratulate our Secondary School Cross-Country Team for their winning performance at the ACC Cross-Country Carnival yesterday. The College last won the Carnival in 2022, with today’s victory being a testament to the hard work of all of our College athletes who have been so well led by Head of Sport, Jess Pillera, Assistant Head of Sport, Darren Kowal, Head of Health and Physical Education, Cameron Tremayne, and all staff and volunteers who made up the Cross-Country Team. It was a privilege to witness so many examples of our students courageously embracing challenge and supporting each other during the day. Congratulations everyone!
