Principal's News

Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!
This week’s Learning Conversations have been a wonderful opportunity for families to connect with their child’s Homegroup teacher to discuss learning progress and wellbeing. These mid-term meetings help ensure that families and teachers can continue working in partnership to support each child in reaching their goals.
The conversations also provided an opportunity to discuss your child’s upcoming report and their progression against the Victorian Curriculum. When reports are sent home in Week 10, you should feel informed and confident about the data provided. If you would like to discuss your child’s report further at the end of the term, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher to arrange a meeting.
Annual Report to the School Community
Our 2024 Annual Report to the School Community has been completed and approved by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS). This report highlights our achievements across the School Improvement Spheres and provides insight into the growth and development of our school throughout the 2024 school year.
Reconciliation Week
This week, our school community has acknowledged and celebrated National Reconciliation Week. It is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements—and to explore how each of us can contribute to reconciliation in Australia.

Welcome
This term we have welcomed three new staff members to SMCM. Ria is joining our teaching staff as the homegroup teacher for Optimism Year 4 Homegroup and Rose-lee and Frosa are joining our Learning Support Team. We are excited to have them join our community and look forward to the wonderful contributions they will bring to our school.
Volunteers Needed
We’re looking for green-thumbed volunteers to help care for our vegetable garden near the Farmhouse! We have six vegetable troughs that need regular tending, and we’re eager to grow fresh produce for our Cooking Club.
We’ll cover the cost of seedlings and materials. If you or a family member would like to volunteer during the week to help students learn about gardening, please get in touch with us.
Congratulations
A big congratulations to Chrissy (staff) and Nick on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Katherine! We send our best wishes to your growing family.
Whole School Atheltics Day
A reminder that our Whole School Athletics Day will take place on Thursday 5th June at Meadowglen Athletics Track. All relevant information has been provided in the permission notes sent home earlier this term.
For more details, please check the ‘Special News’ section of today’s newsletter.
We wish all our First Eucharist candidates and their families the very best for their celebration of the Sacrament this Saturday. May it be a joyful and faith-filled occasion.
