In the Garden

We have had a busy few weeks in the garden.

International Compost Week May 5-11

We have learnt about layering compost bins and what can and can't go into the compost.

World Bee day May 2

We learnt about why bees are important to our world and made water stations for bees in our garden and will continue to add to our bee hotels.

Using tools safely

Garden work requires tools and using them safely is important.

Harvesting our produce

Our pumpkins have been growing beautifully and we harvested all of them to make pumpkin soup. They were so big that we only used two of them.

The olive trees were overloaded and ready. They are have picked, processed and now in jars ready to eat. The students have learnt about the different preserving methods of our produce and what can be kept for later.

In the Kitchen

We've been busy over the past few weeks, cooking delicious afternoon treats for our mothers and special guests, using the fantastic pumpkins grown in the garden for a warming pumpkin soup, enjoyed alongside mouth-watering fresh, homemade bread rolls. To celebrate National Bee Day this week, we enjoyed recipes with honey - broccoli stir-fry with honey soy dressing, egg noodles and honey joys! Yum!

We would be appreciative of anyone who is able to volunteer on Thursdays to help in the kitchen. The session runs from 11.30am - 1.30pm. We can't do it without support!
