Reconciliation Week 2025

National Reconciliation Week 2025 at St. Joseph’s

This week, we were honoured to come together as a community to celebrate National Reconciliation Week 2025, a special time to recognise the importance of truth-telling, respect, and building stronger connections between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and our wider community.

The theme for this year, “Bridging Now to Next,” invited us all to take positive and meaningful steps toward creating a future that is inclusive, just, and full of hope. Throughout the week, our students engaged in thoughtful activities designed to foster understanding, respect, and connection.

In our classrooms, students explored the rich cultures and traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We also reflected deeply on how these values resonate with our Catholic faith. Through studying the Bible story of the Lost Sheep, students considered themes of forgiveness, compassion, and healing, core aspects of both our faith and the journey of reconciliation. These reflections helped students understand the importance of acknowledging past wrongs and working towards peace and justice in our communities.

On Friday morning, the whole school gathered for a beautiful Reconciliation Week Liturgy hosted by Year 4P. This was a special time for prayer, reflection, and unity, as we prayed for healing and a spirit of reconciliation to grow in our hearts and communities. Mrs Marinielli also shared powerful insights and photographs from her recent principal network pilgrimage to the Kimberley region, deepening our appreciation for the sacred connections between faith and culture.

We thank everyone for joining us in this meaningful week of learning, respect, and hope, guided by faith and a commitment to building a more just and inclusive future.
