Volunteers Morning Tea

It was lovely to see so many volunteers join us last Friday for morning tea in Algabonya. Our college is very lucky to have members of the community who go above and beyond to support our students by volunteering their time, effort or skills. Thank you again for your ongoing support and participation with the college.

Junior Park Rangers

Semester one’s Junior Park Rangers program celebrated their final day for semester one recently. Congratulations to all students involved in the program. Thank you to staff who have supported the program this year and made it such a success for our students. Semester two’s program will commence on Monday 18 August. The program provides students with the opportunity to work cooperatively as part of a team. Through planned activities at the Kyabram Fauna Park students are provided with challenges designed to strengthen their resilience and gain a respect for our native flora and fauna.

Carlton ALFW Footy Skills Clinic

Recently students from Years 3 - 6 were provided with the opportunity to attend a footy skills clinic at the college. ALFW footballers from Carlton Football Club put our students through their paces and shared a few tips and tricks to help them perfect their game. After a kick to kick, the AFLW players were keen to share their experience on becoming a professional athlete and how they persevered when faced by challenges. The Q and A session enabled students to appreciate the hard work and commitment needed to reach playing sport at a high level. Another amazing opportunity for our students!

Years 5 – 7 Winter Wonderland Disco

This week years 5 -7 held their very first Winter Wonderland Disco at the Kyabram Scouts Club. It was lovely to see such an amazing event where nearly 100 students danced away in the scout hall that was transformed into a winter wonderland for one night only. Thank you to staff for creating a welcoming event where students were provided with the opportunity to socialise outside of the school environment.

GAT

This week saw our VCE students sit The GAT (General Achievement Test). The GAT is a test of general knowledge and skills administered to students completing VCE Units 3/4 in Victoria. The GAT is used to ensure the quality of VCE assessments and to assess students' literacy and numeracy standards. Congratulations to all students who sat the GAT. Thank you to staff for supporting our students through this stressful time.

VCE/VM Information night

Thank you to those families who attended our recent information session for VCE/ VM and fast-tracking.  It was great to see a lot of interest in the vertical curriculum structure at years 9 and 10 commencing in 2026.  The night was a success with approximately 110 people in attendance. Thank you to staff for their work in organising the evening, preparing brochures, and making themselves available to answer questions. If you were unable to attend the evening, please reach out to your child’s Learning Community Leader for information regarding your child’s learning pathway.

Commencement of Semester Two

Monday 23 June will see our students commence semester two. They will each be provided with their new timetable. It’s an exciting time for students commencing their chosen electives!
