Year 5/6 Campaigns

This term, our Year 5/6 students have been immersed in a Civics and Citizenship unit focused on campaigns and active citizenship. They’ve identified local and global issues they care about and developed campaigns aimed at creating positive change. Students explored stakeholders, persuasive techniques, and strategies such as letters, petitions, posters, flyers, newsletter articles and speeches.

The unit has strengthened students' critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. It also deepened their understanding of how their voices can make a difference within and beyond the school community.

Working in small groups, students researched an issue, identified a target audience, and created campaign materials to influence change.

We warmly invite all parents and carers to attend our Year 5/6 Campaign Showcase on Wednesday, 25th June from 3.00–3.30pm in the Year 5/6 Area. You’ll be able to hear directly from students, view their work, sign petitions that resonate with you, and celebrate their efforts as empowered young citizens.

Please enjoy the following articles written by students who selected newsletter writing as a strategy in their campaigns.
