From the Assistant Principal

ACCOMPLISHMENT and GROWTH

The meaning of A in PERMA represents Accomplishment which aligns with our school value of Growth.

As I wrote in the last newsletter, Term 2 is known as the Reporting term. While teachers are continuously assessing students over the term to plan for differentiated learning, Term 2 is also an opportunity to look at the growth that has occurred over the last six months from December. An indication of how your child is progressing will be clearly seen on the graph in the report indicating their progress. It is however equally important to look at growth in the context of the Effort your child has demonstrated in their learning, specifically in the areas of English, Mathematics and Specialist areas.

In readiness for Semester 1 reports being released, I will open up the 2025 Conference Bookings on Compass next Monday for parents to make a time to meet with their child’s class teacher in the last week of term. We strongly encourage all parents to attend a Parent-Teacher Interview for their child in Foundation - Yr 2, and a Three-Way Conference for students in Yrs 3-6. Not only do teachers spend time assessing, evaluating and writing reports, but students also take time to reflect on their learning achievements and goals as they prepare to take a leading role during the Conference.

It is our belief that through active involvement, students take greater ownership and responsibility for their learning. Further to this, Three-Way Conferences acknowledge that learning is the shared responsibility of students, parents and teachers.

To this end, please familiarise yourselves with the table below outlining the role description for all participants involved in the Conference process.
