Hello Everyone,
Exciting Adventures Ahead for Year 4 and Year 5!
We are keen to share some exciting news with our school community as we are almost ready to embark on two fantastic experiences - one for our Year 4 students and one for our Year 5 students!
Year 5 Camp
Our Year 5 students are eagerly looking forward to their upcoming 2-night camp! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build independence, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories in a safe and supportive environment.
They will be heading off to Cottage by the Sea in Queenscliff on Wednesday. They will return to school on Friday. This camp is right next to the beach, so many of the activities will be held on the beach, such as exploring rockpools and lighthouses, making sandcastles and more!
Year 4 Long Day Excursion
Our year 4 students have a little longer to wait, as they will be off to Lady Northcote Camp for the day on Wednesday 25th June. They will be participating in adventure activities for the day, rotating through experiences like orienteering and canoeing. These types of activities encourage problem-solving and critical thinking skills, promote communication and teamwork, build confidence and resilience, and a connection to the outdoors.
I look forward to hearing how the students enjoyed these experiences.
Road works near school
We have received information from Brimbank City Council that they will be undertaking roadworks in the streets around our school. They will be installing road humps on Doherty Street, Meager Street and Hogan Street. They are expecting to being works this month.

Foundation (Prep) 2026 Enrolments and Transition
Enrolments for Foundation (Prep) 2026 at Deer Park West Primary School are now open!
Starting school is a big milestone in a child’s life, and we are here to support families every step of the way. At Deer Park West Primary, we are proud to offer a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive.
As we prepare to welcome our 2026 Foundation students, we’re also continuing our strong partnerships with local kindergartens to ensure a smooth and positive transition to school. We’re working with kinder teachers to plan visits, share helpful information, and help children feel confident and excited about starting school.
We’ll be inviting kinder groups to visit our school later this term and into Term 3, giving children the chance to get familiar with our learning spaces and meet some friendly faces.
If you have a child starting school next year, or know someone who does, please contact our school office for more information about the enrolment process. We’re here to help make this transition a positive experience for every child and family.
Celebrations of Learning
We are excited to invite you to our Term 2 Celebrations of Learning on Tuesday 17th June 2025. Our classrooms will be open from 2.30-3.00pm and we will be creating and sharing our learning from our Writing Units. Our students are really looking forwards to sharing their amazing word with their families.
