5/6 CLASSROOM

English - "Dirrarn"

In English, we have continued our learning with the text 'Dirrarn' and have begun to plan and write a factual recount.

These recounts include using factual information with our theme focusing on the theme of "Jandamarra". Students have explored the expansion of sentence writing and adding in appositives, which give further detail to the "who" parts of their writing.

Maths - 3D shapes

Our learning in Maths this week, has started with 3D shapes, shape nets and investigating what the different cross sections of shapes are. Students have been using a website called "Polypad", to build 3D shape nets, form the 3D shapes and identify what shape is seen when a shape is cut in half in different ways.

Religious Education - Pentecost "Celebrating the Holy Spirit"

This term in Religious Education, students are learning about Pentecost — the time when the Holy Spirit came to Jesus’ followers. They're exploring the meaning behind the symbols of fire, wind, and speaking in different languages, and how these connect to stories from the Old Testament. Students are also learning about the promise Jesus made to send the Holy Spirit to guide and support his disciples as they continued His mission. Through class discussions and imagination activities, students are diving deeper into how the Holy Spirit gave strength to the early disciples and changed the hearts of the people who listened. They are using a mix of words and symbols to create a collage that retells this powerful story. It’s a creative way for students to think about what the Holy Spirit means to them and how it can inspire their own lives today.
