3/4 CLASSROOM

This fortnight in the grade 3/4 room we have been looking at fossils with Mrs Cummins. We enjoyed getting our hands dirty doing this activity.

Bryce: My fossil is a banksia pod. I made it by pressing it down into a piece of clay.

Amara: My fossil is a flower. I made it out of clay.

Thomas: We had to pretend it was a fossil that had been buried and found. My fossil is made out of a leaf.

In Maths we have finished our fractions unit and have started our measurement unit this week. We have been working hard to understand new concepts like equivalent fractions and fractions on a number line. We are proud of the way everyone persisted when they were challenged in their learning.

In English we have been learning about Indigenous culture through the book 'Yirra and her deadly dog Deamon'. We have been learning about the Aboriginal flag and the history of the flag.

In religion we have started learning about Pentecost. We have created story boards about the bible passage Acts 2:1-4.

"When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

On Wednesday we will be participating in National Simultaneous reading time. We will read the book 'The Truck Cat' and complete an activity based around what home means to us.
