Year 11: A Journey into Joy

Year 11 students recently embarked on a deep and reflective journey, exploring joy not merely as a fleeting emotion, but as a sacred gift from God, one that empowered them to live more fully, authentically, and generously in the world.

As part of their Formation Day, students were encouraged to notice the everyday moments that brought them joy, and to recognise how these experiences were part of something greater. Through rich class discussions and moments of personal reflection, they uncovered the powerful connection between living as a joy-filled person and experiencing true inner peace.

Taking this exploration further, students shared the experiences that brought them joy, discovering that joy often grew when it was shared with others. This communal dimension deepened their understanding of joy as not just personal, but relational and spiritual.

To enrich this journey, Year 11 students engaged in a form of reflective prayer—a time of spiritual wandering and wondering. This meditative experience invited them into a deeper, more personal connection with God, guided by sacred text and creative expression.

Each student chose a short passage of Scripture that resonated with them and used it to inspire a unique piece of art created through micrography, an art form where tiny letters and words form the lines and shapes of a visual image. In this way, the very words of Scripture shaped a visual expression of faith and meaning.

Through this integration of faith, creativity, and reflection, Year 11 students not only discovered more about the true meaning of joy, but also learned how to carry that joy with them, into their relationships, their choices, and their spiritual lives.

Year 11 Multicultural Day Celebration

On Friday, 6 June our Year 11 students celebrated Multicultural Day, a vibrant event that embraces the richness of our diverse community. It was a day to recognise, appreciate, and honour the many cultures that make up our school and society.

Students were encouraged to dress in their traditional cultural attire, wear something orange (a colour that symbolises harmony and mutual respect), or bring an item that represents their cultural heritage. Whether it’s through clothing, accessories, or shared stories, this is a special opportunity to showcase identity and promote unity.

Let’s come together in celebration, learning from one another and sharing the beauty of our backgrounds.
