“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.” – Acts 2:46-47 (NIV)
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is on this week and is more than just a fundraising event for cancer research – it’s a reminder of the power of community, compassion, and the simple act of sharing food.
In the early church, believers gathered in homes to break bread and share their lives. They didn’t need fancy meals or perfect settings. What mattered was being together – supporting one another, encouraging one another, and creating a space where everyone felt seen and loved.
When we gather for morning tea – whether it’s with a steaming cup, homemade treats, or store-bought biscuits – we’re doing more than eating. We’re making time for each other. We’re showing care. We’re choosing to be present in a world that often rushes past the little things.
Food has a special way of bringing people together. It gives us a reason to pause, to listen, and to give thanks. And when we come together for a cause like cancer research, we’re not just sharing food – we’re sharing hope.
Prayer: Loving God, thank you for the gift of community. Help us to see opportunities in everyday moments – like a morning tea – to show kindness, support one another, and work together for good. May our gatherings be filled with love, joy, and purpose. Amen.
