Lands Trip

A special thank you to Ernabella Aṉangu School for hosting Emmaus Christian College on the Lands Trip.

We are especially grateful to the Minymas who spent time sharing stories and teaching our students about bush food and medicine, traditional art techniques and life in Pukatja.

An unforgettable trip and time of learning for all!

7-12 Visual Art Coordinator

VET Night

Our recent Vocational Education & Training (VET) Night attracted students interested in incorporating VET into their school journey.

Attendees, along with their parents, learned about who VET is for, the skills needed, and areas of demand in the industry. Thirteen exhibitors, including Minda, PEER, and TAFE, showcased their VET in Schools programs and post-school opportunities.

The event provided students with valuable insights into potential career pathways and direct interaction with course providers. Exhibitors praised the meaningful conversations with engaged students, and it was heartening to see families celebrate their students' unique paths into specialised careers.

Book Week at South Plympton

Our whole school loved Book Week.

The Secondary English department hosted a quiz day and ‘read alouds’ for the primary students in the library, the Year 7 – 9 students decorated their homegroup doors with the most amazing book themes! They are all worthy of a mention – all winners for their participation! The students from Year 1 – Year 6 were truly entertained by our author visit of Andrew McDonough who wrote the Lost Sheep series. All the Junior School students loved listening to a story or two and then trying to draw their own sheep Olympics, it was wonderful to see their final results and many of our students were motivated to write and illustrate their own stories too.

The book character parade was the highlight of the week, with nearly every single staff member and student getting all dressed up to represent their favourite character, many Home Groups going above and beyond with the whole class representing all the characters of one book, which was very effective and striking. A few drops of rain did not deter the atmosphere either – thank you to all the parents who got up extra early to make sure those wigs are on straight and the costume was just perfect for your little Princess or Spiderman!

It is wonderful to see the Emmaus participation levels across the week, it truly was taking the library to everyone; the library also sent out book quizzes for the Secondary students and a kahoot for the Junior students, winners from each year group or class received the obligatory treats. Each Junior School class was given a feather which they could colour in and add their favourite author, quote or title to. These are being made into wings as To Read Is To Fly – a photo or two will be posted once fully assembled. Book Week truly does happen throughout the whole school – well done everyone!
