SACSA Netball (Years 3-6)
20-21 August
The Year 5/6 girls worked hard all day against some talented netballers. After finals, they came 7th out of 20 teams in Division 2, which is a fantastic result! Challenging conditions with sleeting rain and huge winds made hard work for both 5/6 teams.
A big thank you to Marlize Joubert who has given her time to support this team at lunchtime trainings and coach the team on the day. Marlize, your passion and dedication to growing netball at our school is appreciated!
The 5/6 boys progressed in converting their basketball skills into netball skills as the day went on. With only two experienced players in the SACSA trials, we have had some work to do. The boys responded well to feedback and improved in leaps and bounds throughout the day. Winning the last match of the day was a wonderful finale, showcasing the new skills they have learnt. Izaac, Josiah and Noah C were notable leaders in the team on and off the court. The team came 7th in Division 2.
On Wednesday, Mr Alex Lauder and Ms Sharyn Keating coached the 3/4 teams.
The girls all came back with huge grins on their faces, and lots of exciting stories to share.
A huge Thank You Sharyn for taking the time to coach and encourage this team.
Great gains in resilience from the boys when the umpires' calls weren't in their favour, this is always such a great learning opportunity for our teams
A highlight for Mr Lauder was to see Jude praying for the teams with another boy from Southern Vales Christian College at end of day.
The boys had a big win at the end to finish the day, which was good for their morale.

SACSA Badminton (Years 7-10)
27 August
The Year 7/8 Boys and Girls competed at SACSA Badminton on Tuesday 27 August against other affiliated schools.
Our teams had trialled and trained since the start of Term 3 and went with the mindset to be competitive and see how the competition unfolds. Both our teams went through their pool matches undefeated, qualifying for finals, playing against Endeavour in the Grand Finals.
Girls played first and won 3 sets to 0, and our boys followed. The boy's match went one set each, leaving it up to our third player to manage the pressure and the growing crowd.
Our player was 10 - 6 and clawed their way back to 12 - 11, still down but not out. 12-12, 13-12 then 13 all, our player went up 14 -13, the crowd getting louder and growing, then after a long rally our player hit a smash to win 15-13 and win the Grand final 2 sets to 1.
It was a great day of competition and a great atmosphere for those who competed from our and other schools. Well done to these students who gave up their own time to come to training and take on the feedback given to implement for their matches.
