Principal Message

Dear Families,

Book Week: Thanks so much for getting actively involved in the celebrations last week. We had the Giant Book Swap early in the week and then an amazing Parade on Friday morning. A big thanks to all the staff for making a huge effort and to our senior students who had their final Primary School Book Week. The school community raised $200 which will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Swimming: Years 3, 4 & 5 students have started their swimming program. Thanks to the parent helpers for helping out on the bus and supervising – but we need more. For excursions like this, we need to have an adult: student ratio of 1:20… as most classes are over 20, we need parental support. If you are able to help out (that means, come to school, hop on the bus, go to pool, hop back on the bus and keep eyes on kids throughout) please Seesaw message your child’s teacher to ensure we can keep running the swimming program.

Just a reminder that there may be towels and bathers in school bags… and it might be worthwhile packing a few more snacks in for the children for after their lesson. Please be mindful that buses will be in Draper St all week transporting students to and from the pool. The afternoon session is a tight one and the cones that will be out, are for bus parking.

Supervision: Before School supervision starts at 8.45am until 9am, then class starts! After school supervision starts at 3.20pm and concludes at 3.35pm when staff begin their meetings. Please be mindful of these times. Camp Australia is available for before and after school care. Please book in.

Trivia Night: The Olympics may have finished on TV, but the Trivia Olympics is on this Friday night. A big thanks to the P&F team who have organised yet another social even for the community. Enjoy the night.

Father’s Day Stall: As mentioned last week, Gillian Pollard has organised a stall and the wonderful P&F have offered their support too. Thursday (tomorrow) is the day where students will have the opportunity to purchase a present for $7. If you miss this opportunity, Friday 3.20pm will be the final chance to purchase a present. This is a chance for your children to purchase a present at school and is NOT a fundraising opportunity. Please support the event so we don’t lose money as a school.

Specialist Survey: See the results in the newsletter. Thanks to the 57 families for their input. After we receive staff preferences by October 1st and the 2025 indicative budget from the Department, we will plan the Specialist Program for 2025. Stay tuned for further updates in Term 4.

Preps 2025: Thanks to all our families who have enrolled from inside the zone. We are beginning to plan our 2025 Prep classes so if you have NOT yet enrolled a sibling, please do so ASAP. We look forward to seeing the Little Grovers in transition sessions very soon.

Severe weather: When we have days like today with extreme wind etc, we adjust our recess and lunch to indoor playtimes. Students can still grab a drink and go to the toilet, but we aim to minimise any dangers. If there is a break in the weather, we try to get the students outside.

School Saving Bonus: The $400 School Saving Bonus will be released to parents in November this year to be used in 2025.  Further information is in this newsletter.  Please make sure your primary family email and phone number are up to date by phoning the office or by emailing us.  Please do not update your information in the Sentral yourself as this doesn't carry across to our school administration system.

Have a great week everyone.
