Book Week

Kath White & Nicole Wapling

Port Melbourne Primary School was transformed into a wonderful world of imagination as we celebrated Book Week Dress Up Day! Taking inspiration from this year's CBCA theme, Reading is Magic, children dressed up as their favourite book characters. The day was action packed, with a film crew from The Project capturing the excitement as well as an amazing Prep-2 parade!

Writing competition winners and runners up were awarded for their creative achievements, and prizes were given for 'Best Dressed'.

Ice Bucket Challenge

But without a doubt the main event was celebrating the money raised for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation through a classic, 'Ice Bucket Challenge'.

As a school we raised $545.55! Students from the classes who raised the most money were chosen to pour the ice on our brave staff: Miss Miranda, Mr Harrison, Mr Paul and Miss Jane.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make Book Week Dress Up Day a magical event!

Book Fair

The winners of the fabulously generous, and brimming with books, gift hamper from Mary Martin's Online Book Fair was a wonderful family with two boys here. Congratulations to Oliver and Alexander! Thank you for supporting our fundraiser, we hope you enjoy that huge basket of books valued at over $200. Well done!

We'd also like to thank all of the families that purchased books at the online Book Fair. Thanks to your generosity, the 15% of proceeds raised came to a fantastic $300. Miss Nicole can now go shopping and buy more of your favourite books to add to our library. Thanks again!
