Whole School Character Strength Focus - Kindness

This week, at St Margaret Mary’s have been focusing on KINDNESS.

Kindness is one of those wonderful character strengths that does not just make us feel good—it also has a powerful ripple effect. When you do something kind, whether it’s a smile, a helping hand, or a simple 'thank you,' it spreads.

Just like the ripple that is created when we drop a pebble into a pond, kindness goes out in all directions, growing wider and wider. One small act of kindness can inspire another and another until it touches more people than we can imagine.

But here’s the important part: real kindness comes from the heart and this is what we learn from Jesus. He is the perfect role model for how we can show kindness because it’s the right thing to do, not because we expect something in return.

When we act with genuine kindness, it creates a positive environment where everyone feels cared for and valued.

As your children work on completing their Acts of Kindness Bingo cards, we hope that parents notice a little extra kindness shining through at home. It's a beautiful reminder that kindness is something we do not need to be rewarded for—it’s a gift we give freely, knowing that it can brighten someone else’s day. Let’s continue to nurture this strength in our school community every day.

Warm regards,

Melina
