Book Week

It’s so exciting to see the Book Week happenings around our school this week. A huge thank you to Ms McLeod and Mrs Madigan for their efforts in bringing this celebration of reading to life. We are really proud of the reading culture at St Paul, and our children’s love of reading and our Library team play a huge role in this all year but especially during Book Week each year. We look forward to seeing everyone’s costumes and excitement on Friday!

Year 2 AFL Max Sleepover

Last week, our Year 2 children spent an energetic and excitement filled evening at AFL Max for their overnight learning experience. Our children played together and went outside of their comfort zone with some of the challenges at AFL Max but also with spending the night away from their homes and families. This can lead to some hard to have feelings for our children and they were amazing at practising resilience and working through these emotions. We are very proud of them and know that this experience is a big milestone and memory that they will remember for a long time.

St Paul Camp Program

The Year 2 AFL Max Sleepover is just one of our camp learning experiences for children at St Paul. In Term 2, our Year 4 children went on a two night adventure camp to Mylor. Camp experiences coming up in Term 4 include: our Year 3 overnight camp in Belair; Our two night Year 5 camp at Adare in Victor Harbor including aquatics activities at the beach; and our two night Year 6 camp at Swanport including aquatic activities on the river.

These experiences are fantastic learning experiences that connect with the Australian Curriculum and help our children develop their learning assets that are useful across all subject areas and all of their learning, both at St Paul and beyond school. Our Learning Assets are: Thinker, Self-Manager, Collaborator, Communicator, Researcher and Contributor. All of these traits are developed through our camp experiences where children learn new skills and work together with their classmates in a variety of new experiences that extend their learning. The resilience children practise through our camp experiences plays a significant role in our children’s social development and their preparation for higher year levels, for secondary school and beyond. We look forward to sharing more about our children’s experience on these different camps next term!
