Learn what opportunities our students have been taking on
Year 9 Outdoor Education students recently embarked on a rock climbing adventure at Mt Arapiles where they developed trust, embraced "challenge by choice," and strengthened teamwork. As they tackled various climbing routes, students learned to rely on each other for support and safety, fostering a deep sense of trust and mutual respect. The experience emphasised the importance of personal choice, allowing students to push their boundaries at their own pace while being supported by their peers. This adventure not only tested their physical abilities but also built strong team dynamics and confidence in facing challenges together.
During the Term 2 holidays, St Brigid’s College students Charlie Kuhn (Year 11) and Isaac Arnold (Year 12) attended the Spark Engineering Camp in Melbourne. Hosted by Youth Without Borders, the week-long, fully funded camp provides students with a unique experience by showing them what tertiary education and technology-related fields are like while they are still in secondary school. By participating in this camp, students are encouraged to pursue careers in STEAM and see that these pathways are both accessible and achievable. Well done Charlie and Isaac, for taking part in this exciting opportunity!
"One of the best things I got out of this camp was that it got me interested in fields that I thought I would have no interest in. It was a new experience for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. I made new friends and made unforgettable memories from this camp. This will be an experience that I will constantly look back on and I heavily encourage others to give experiences like this a go to learn new skills and interests." - Isaac
"Day 5 was the best day ever. We went to Monash University for a tour and made bouncy balls and created a water rocket. We ended the night with a talent show where I did food facts. Afterwards we had a dance party and spent most of the time dancing, jumping and taking selfies. I would like to thank the teachers at St Brigid's and the Spark Camp staff for making this camp an amazing opportunity and I would recommend this to any student." - Charlie
