Principal's Report
Dear families,
It is exciting, even if somewhat disruptive, to see our builders on site and the beginning of our $3.6 million refurbishment of the student amenities, café, student gathering space and Food Science kitchen. The students and staff have adjusted already as to how they navigate around the school, however we have ensured that the learning program continues unhindered.
For a school our size, we certainly punch well above our division in sporting success. This week our intermediate girls netball team competed in the National All Schools Carnival near Bendigo and, while playing against bigger (and taller) schools, they managed to finish fourth in the carnival, well ahead of some academy schools.
Amy Bolwell in Year 8 also competed in the Girls Junior section at the School Shoot competition in Kerang and placed second with a score of 15 / 20 ahead of 60 other shooters. Then she travelled to Cobar to participate in the Golden Clay competition with a score of 27/30. Please see the entry further on in today’s newsletter on Amy’s success.
Next weekend (1 Sept), Sr Jacinta Rice celebrates her Platinum Jubilee – that is 70 years as a Sister of St Brigid !!! The parish will be holding a celebration for Sr Jacinta at our 10:30 mass on Sunday 1st September and we here at St Brigid’s will celebrate Sr Jacinta at our assembly on 16th September. All members of our community are warmly invited to both events.
Next week we have the Year 8 Camp at Roses Gap and the Year 9 Deakin University “Future Me” program running form Monday to Wednesday. Then, Thursday the 29 August will be a student free day as staff continue to work with Leading Teams to further develop our positive relationships program and expected behaviours.
Stay safe
