Sacrament of Confirmation

Please pray for our Year 6 students who will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday 20 October 2024 at the 9:30am Mass at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. All are welcome.

Heavenly Father,

God of power and of love.

We pray for all the children who are preparing

for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

May your Holy Spirit help them to grow in faith, hope and love,

and may they come to know you as the one true God

who loves them without limit.

May their hearts welcome you gladly;

May their ears hear your voice in the scriptures;

May their eyes see you in all things;

And may they proclaim your glory

as they walk in the ways of Jesus Christ,

our Lord and Saviour.

Amen.

Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, the students strengthen their relationship with God and become full members of the Church, deepening their commitment to living in the world with a Christ-like disposition. The Sacrament continues, strengthens, confirms and celebrates the Gifts of the Holy Spirit received in Baptism - wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord.

Heart of Salvado

Thank you to all of our students and families who proudly wore their sporting teams colours and donated gold coins and shoes/socks on our Sporting Colours Day. We are sending four large boxes of shoes/socks to the students at John Pujajangka-Piyirn Catholic School (JPPCS). Our students also raised over $700 on this day which will go towards a new statue of Jesus for the JPPCS prayer space.

A huge thank you also to the 45 College families and staff members who have generously committed to preparing a wonderful Christmas parcel for a student at JPPCS. Please remember to drop your gifts off at the Covered Assembly Area by the end of Week 2 this term.

Socktober - Crazy Sock Day

SOCKTOBER - CRAZY SOCK DAY – SOCK IT TO POVERTY!

Term 4, Week 3 - Wednesday 23 October 2024

Students are invited to come to school wearing their craziest pair of socks to raise awareness of young people living in poverty around the world and foster a sense of empathy and social responsibility to our global community. Primary students will celebrate a liturgy together on this day and then walk the Primary Camino (see below).

On this day students are also invited to bring in a GOLD COIN DONATION which will be donated to Catholic Mission for their SOCK IT TO POVERY appeal.

The Salvado Way - Primary Camino

This year, our primary students will participate in the inaugural Primary “The Salvado Way."

Rosendo Salvado often needed to travel between Subiaco and New Norcia, a journey of seven days by foot, to deliver supplies to support the mission Salvado established in New Norcia.

Today, many people walk Salvado’s same path, called the Camino Salvado, as a pilgrimage – a spiritual journey for reflection, prayer and reconnection to self, others, creation and God. Earlier this year, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to walk a section of the Camino Salvado. Click here to read more about the Camino Salvado.

After the Socktober liturgy, our Primary students from Kindy to Year 6, lead by our Year 9 student volunteers, will go on a small pilgrimage around the College grounds inspired by Salvado’s journey. Walking is a wonderful time to pray and spend time with God. We look forward to this very special day.

Pope Francis' Monthly Prayer Intention

In October, we pray for a shared mission.

We pray that the Church continue to sustain in all ways a *Synodal lifestyle, as a sign of co-responsibility, promoting the participation, the communion and the mission shared among priests, religious and lay people.

*Synodal - Synod (or Assembly - of clergy and laity) is a call to pray, listen and discern together what the Holy Spirit is saying to or asking of the Church today.
