Over the last few weeks, 3/4 students have been very busy doing some fantastic learning, enjoying and celebrating Book Week, preparing for our Discovery Open Day and participating in fun, hands on lessons!

 We have been learning about fractions during our fractions unit in Maths, including different ways to represent different fractions, how to place them on a number line and converting fractions to decimals.

⭐️ WRITING ⭐️

After a unit on narrative writing and techniques to improve our writing by making it more descriptive and appealing to the audience, we began planning and drafting a copy of our own narrative about an ice block. Students have been working very hard over the last two weeks to plan and write an orientation, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. Check out some of the 3/4D authors at work....

⭐️ BOOK WEEK READING ⭐️

We celebrated Book Week at PVN with some fun, crafty, book related experiences exploring some of the CBCA nominated book awards. Some of the activities we completed after reading the books were: 

  • Creating origami flowers after reading 'The Paper Flower Girl'
  • Watercolour painting after reading 'Timeless'
  • Chalk Drawings outdoors after reading 'The Concrete Garden'
  • Creating, drawing and colouring bird looking creatures with arms after reading 'The Bird with Arms'
  • Completing a reading based scavenger hunt
