How exciting was last week's Book Week costumes!  And to compliment the love of books, all students were encouraged to vote on 'The Children's Book Council of Australia' shortlisted books during their library session.  

 

Students listed below picked the winning titles under the following categories and will go into a raffle draw at next assembly to win a book pack.

 

Winner 2024 Picture Book of the Year - Timeless

This vibrant new picture book by award-winning author and illustrator Kelly Canby is all about time – making it, losing it and subverting the whole darn concept.

Winner 2024 Early Childhood - Gymnastica Fantastica!

Gymnastica Fantastica! is a joyful and exuberant picture book about a child discovering and attempting new physical skills and putting on wonderfully imperfect shows for whoever will watch them.

Winner 2024 Eve Pownall Award - Country Town

Happy times, sad times, boom times and gloom times!

From the First Peoples’ camp at the river crossing in the 1820s through to Carols by Candlelight at the showground in today’s world, this is a decade by decade wonderfully illustrated story of a small country community.

Winner 2024 New Illustrator Award  - Hope is the Thing

A highly original, beautiful and deeply meaningful picture book that sees the marvellous and inspiring world of birds through the eyes of a child and celebrates birds’ adaptability and ingenuity.
