Term 3 Wrap Up!

It has been another busy term in Grade 2, and like always, we are extremely proud of the effort and achievements of each and everyone of our students.

Thankyou to all of the wonderful parent helpers who have assisted in our classrooms throughout the term, your support and engagement is very much appreciated.

Book Week was a massive highlight this term for our students (and staff) and it was so wonderful to see our students dressed up in some of their favourite book characters.

Reading:

In Reading, students have continued to develop their phonics knowledge and fluency with daily practice. They have explicitly leant new vocabulary connected to the rich texts they have been reading as a class and have been involved in turn and talks to discuss class texts and develop their comprehension.

Writing:

In Writing, students learnt about the structures and features of Information Reports. They have created their own information reports about a country of choice. This writing linked in with their Inquiry Unit, Children of the World, and allowed them to practice using the new knowledge they have acquired about grammar and sentence structure throughout the year.

Numeracy:

In numeracy this term our students have enjoyed learning about fractions, additive patterns, 2D and 3D shapes and doubling and halving numbers. Students have enjoyed working with hands on materials to explore shape and made many connections between their new numeracy knowledge and practical applications in the real world.

Inquiry:

During Inquiry, Grade 2's have learnt about the daily lives of children from around the world. They have discovered the different kinds of food, activities, celebrations and crafts that different cultures value and incorporate in their daily lives. Students have finished this unit off by selecting a culture/country to further explore and build a diorama to share their learning.
