Term three has been packed with learning and fun activities. The Preps celebrated their 100th day at school, enjoyed the Book Week Parade, and went on exciting excursions to Barwon Heads River.
LITERACY
In Reading students have been learning that two letters make one sound. They have been sounding out and blending longer words and have been introduced to the ch (lunch), sh (fish) and two th sounds (that and with). Students have been practising reading fluency in fluency pairs and tracking their partners reading.
In Writing, students have been learning how to expand sentences using adjectives and conjunctions such as and + because to elaborate on their ideas. Students have been learning about different types of punctuation such the use of full stops, upper case letters and question marks and have been learning about fact writing relating to our inquiry topic of important places.
INQUIRY
We introduced the concept of 'sustainability' to the students and had numerous discussions about how we can care for our environment. They particularly enjoyed their two visits to the Barwon Heads River, where Lucy taught them valuable ways to protect the river, and the students engaged in some great activities.
MATHS
We've had a busy term in Maths, exploring a range of topics including patterns, addition and subtraction, sharing, location, shapes, and measurement. Each week, we also review Place Value, and the students are steadily gaining confidence in this area.
