Grade 5

Hello Grade 5 Families!

As we head into Term 4, we’re excited to share some important updates and upcoming events for our students.

School Captaincy Process

The School Captaincy process will commence in Week 2 of Term 4. Please keep an eye out for specific communication from us that will detail the process and provide all the necessary information.

Camp at Cave Hill Creek

Our much-anticipated camp will take place from Wednesday 15th to Friday 17th of November at Cave Hill Creek in Beaufort. Further details and packing lists will be sent home in Week 1 of Term 4, so please stay tuned.

School Uniform Reminder

We kindly remind all families to ensure students are proudly representing Barwon Heads Primary School in full uniform. If your child is unable to wear their uniform on any occasion, please inform their classroom teacher in advance. Also, don’t forget to check our Lost Property for any missing items—it’s currently overflowing with clothing!

SunSmart Policy Returns

As we move into the warmer months, our SunSmart policy will be back in effect. Please ensure your child has their hat packed and is wearing it during recess and lunch breaks.

Bike Safety

A gentle reminder for students to walk their bikes on school grounds and park them properly in the designated bike racks, rather than leaning them against buildings. Safety is our top priority!

Term 3 Highlights

In Term 3, our students impressed us with their debating and persuasive writing skills. We also had fantastic 'Sports Reports' presentations, linked to the 2024 Olympics.

Grade 5 Sport offered leadership opportunities, which we aim to continue throughout Term 4.

Looking Ahead:

Term 4 Projects

In Term 4, students will dive into the world of consumerism, critically analysing how product design and advertisements influence us. To bring this learning to life, students will plan, design, and launch their own product in a Shark Tank Expo. We’re thrilled to invite the School Community to this event, where you’ll have the chance to vote on your favourite products!

Buddies Program

In Term 4, students will have the exciting opportunity to visit Bop Bop Kindergarten and meet some of our future preps who will be transitioning into school in 2025! This will be a fantastic chance for our Grade 5 students to demonstrate their leadership skills and act as positive role models. As part of this program, each student will create and gift a picture story book to their Buddy at the end of the year to support their school transition.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s learning or wellbeing, your classroom teacher remains your first point of contact.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Grade 5 Team
