Principal's Message
SchoolVision - To empower students to shape and enrich the world around them.
Thank you everyone for your support across an exciting and eventful Term Three. Our students have achieved so much and definitely deserve a well-earned break.
150 YEAR CELEBRATIONS
Next year is the 150th anniversary for Barwon Heads Primary School. This is a significant milestone and to celebrate, we already have a number of events in the initial planning stages. This will include a school production in November next year.
We look forward to informing you about how we will be able to celebrate as a school and broader community.
ART SHOW
A huge thank you to our fundraising team and Jon Phillips for their organisation of the Art Show (pictured above). The art pieces that our students produced were outstanding. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the artists who contributed to our silent auction. We’re thrilled to share that the Art Show raised nearly $7,000, which will be instrumental in funding our 2025 school production.
SMOKING CEREMONY AND WELCOME TO COUNTRY
On the second day back of next term (Tuesday 8th Oct) we will be having a special Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at 9am. All members of our school community are invited to attend on the oval. Students will still start the day in their classrooms and walk across to the school oval with teachers. This will be a wonderful way to commence our Year 3-6 Indigenous Studies unit of learning.
YEAR 6 ELECTIVE PROGRAM
In addition to our usual specialist program, students in Year 6 next year will be able to opt in to an Art, Sport or Environmental elective to allow them to further explore some of their passions. This program will be run collaboratively by our Year 6 teachers and specialist teachers.
CELEBRATION OF LEARNING
Thank you to all of the families who took time out to attend our celebration of learning yesterday. The pride in our students' faces was so evident while I was moving from room to room.
DOJO POINTS REWARDS
This week, a large number of students across the school cashed in their dojo points to watch a movie with Mr Steven. There were so many students who had achieved enough dojo points to earn this reward that Mr Steven had to run out and get extra popcorn! Whilst we have such an intrinsically motivated student population, it is always still great to acknowledge the dedication they put into learning and modelling excellent behaviour.
CONGRATULATIONS MR STEVEN
Importantly, our students aren't our only learners. Congratulations to Mr Steven who has completed his Masters of Inclusion. Today he is attending his graduation ceremony.
TEACHER APPOINTMENTS FOR 2025
We have recently appointed 5 teaching staff for 2025. Congratulations to Renee Cox and Maree Najdovski who will be continuing with us in 2025. We have also appointed 3 new teachers; Esther McCoy, Ryan Salvador and Maddie Robinson.
PRINCIPAL'S AWARDS
Congratulations to Jake Ivey and Chloe Gunn for winning this week's Principal's Awards. They will be joining me for morning tea next term.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Spring Holidays together. I know that we have a number of families who are heading abroad. We wish you safe and happy travels.
If your footy team is still alive, all the best for the next two weeks.
Look forward to seeing everyone, ready for the final term of the year!
