Dear Families,
Welcome to week 8. I hope all families enjoyed the long weekend.
The cold weather has arrived and with it some much welcome rain! A reminder to make sure children's jumpers and jackets are clearly marked with their name so we can return them when we find them. This makes life easier for everyone.
Work continues on the Inland Rail project at the end of Anderson St. At the moment we are noticing increased traffic in Bury Street, especially in the afternoons at pickup times, which is becoming quite dangerous for children. I have spoken to the community liaison representative from John Holland in regard to 40km signs to try and slow traffic down. Can parents please park on the school side of Bury St and collect children OR at the back gate in Binney St. Children, cars and buses are not a good combination. Please do not call children over the road, especially while the school buses are parked.
From time-to-time arrangements for children change at home time, and a message needs to be sent to them via the office. At the moment we are having multiple phone calls each afternoon asking us to give messages to children. Please understand that Bek is the only person in the office and while she does a fabulous job, it is very tricky to get messages to children when there are people in the office and the phone is ringing. If you do have a change in arrangements a call to the office earlier in the day would be much better.
Children sometimes forget what is happening for them after school, one family had a great idea of popping a tag on their child's bag that reminded them that they were on the bus or at AfterCare or were walking/riding home. This has worked brilliantly and encourages independence.
We have head lice in the school at the moment. Please make sure your child's hair is tied up! If you should find some in your child's hair they need to be treated before returning.

Our School Advisory Board met last week, and part of our discussion was around a survey to parents asking for your input around our family night and curriculum night, for which we had very low numbers earlier in the year. The SAC will work on this and send to your inbox later this term.
We wish our Cross-Country runners all the best on Friday in Benalla. May they enjoy every moment, may the wind be at their back and we look forward to hearing what a great day it was.
If you have a child ready to start in Foundation in 2026, please ask Bek for an enrolment form and return it to school. If you have friends or family looking to enrol their child in school for next year, please let them know, we would love to give them a tour of our school and welcome them to our community.
Until next fortnight
Therese
