Parking and Kiss & Go zones

A reminder that the ‘Kiss & Go’ zones are for parents to pull up & drop their children off. This is not an area to park your car and come into the school. Parents rely on these spaces for a quick drop off and get away so please use these spaces as they are intended for.

The office has also received complaints from neighbours regarding cars parked right on the very corner of Frances and Alexandra street. It makes it very difficult for vehicles entering and exiting the streets to see oncoming traffic. Please be mindful when parking your car.

Gate 2 on Speight Street

We have had issues with this gate twice now which has meant at times it can't be used. The fencing company came out to fix the gate this week. They informed us that the problems occurr due to students standing on the gate to reach the key pad when opening or closing the gate to access TheirCare. I kindly ask parents/carers not to let your children stand up on the gate.

URSTRONG Parent Night

URSTRONG is a whole school strategy that empowers students with friendship skills to create a culture of kindness. It provides parents and teachers with common language and skills to better support students.

The mission of the URSTRONG program is to proactively create a climate within friendships that encourages trust, respect, and honesty. Students learn to solve their own problems and make decisions that support happy, healthy relationships.

A recommendation that came out of our parent forum during our school review was that we should offer the URSTRONG online Language of Friendship parent-child workshop again as a refresher to those who attended last year and for anyone who missed the event last year. This refresher has been scheduled for Thursday 5 June at 6:30PM. Tyson Greenwood, Director of URSTRONG Schools, will teach you and your children skills and language to foster healthy, feel-good friendships.  More information to follow.

We will also welcome Tyson to our school on Wednesday 28 May to present workshops for our students as follows:

Foundation-Grade 2: Fuzzies & Friends

Grade 3 & 4: Heart of Friendship

Grade 5 & 6: Friendship Fires

Working Bee

Our working bee is on this weekend, Sunday 4 May @ 9:30AM. Hope to see you there if you are able to spare an hour or two.

Speight Street Building Update

We completed several projects in the holidays. All the stairs and the second level of the Speight St building are newly carpeted and the STEAM room received some much needed new storage cupboards.

Sustainability Leaders

They were all very excited to receive their long awaited badges.

They are a passionate group of young students who are leading change in this area with the help of Toby.

What a Wonderful Community

A message from Sebastian Costello:

We did a fundraiser to help John Aster (Our Wales Street Crossing Supervisor) who had his bike stolen. We would like to thank him for his 21 years of looking after us crossing the street and being a great part of the Wales Street community. Please see the card here.

Message from John:

I’d like to thank the Community of Wales Street for the bike and great support to get a new one. Many thanks to everyone involved.
