A New Era for Years 9 and 10: Introducing Our Vertical Curriculum

Starting in 2026, Kyabram P-12 College is proud to launch a transformative new curriculum model for our Year 9 and 10 students: the Vertical Curriculum.

This marks an exciting shift in how we support and engage learners. Instead of following a one-size-fits-all approach by year level, students will now have the opportunity to build a personalised two-year learning journey, choosing from a diverse range of subjects aligned to their skills, interests, and aspirations.

Based on a combination of teacher recommendation, student and family needs and interests and future pathways and aspirations, students will enrol in subjects at one of four Stages of Learning:

  • 🏗️BUILD – for strong foundations
  • 🌉BRIDGE – for guided exploration
  • 🛫BROADEN – for depth and independence
  • 🚨BEACON – for challenge and VCE readiness

Whether a student needs more support, is ready for more stretch, or is discovering a new interest, the Vertical Curriculum offers flexibility and structure to help them thrive.

Over the course of Years 9 and 10, students will still meet all essential curriculum requirements, while enjoying more choice than ever before.

This exciting innovation reflects our commitment to:

  • Future-focused learning
  • Student agency
  • Pathways and support for all students

We look forward to working with students and families to co-design meaningful and challenging learning journeys as we embark on this new chapter together.

Students and their families are invited to an informative session on Monday 16 June - stay tuned for details in our socials!

Calling All Local Businesses and Industry Leaders!

Be Part of Our “Future You Day” – Inspiring the Next Generation!

We’re inviting local businesses, trades, and industry professionals to take part in our Future You Day on Thursday 4 July, from around 9:00am to 11:00am. Then join us afterwards for morning tea as a thank you for your generous donation of time and expertise.

This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your work, share your career journey, and spark curiosity in students from Years 5–8 as they explore future possibilities.

What’s involved?

  • A short 1–2 minute presentation introducing your business or industry
  • Hosting an interactive booth where students can engage with what you do – tools, tech, samples, activities, or demonstrations welcome!

Help students imagine their future selves by showing them the exciting paths your field offers.
