Level 1 & 2 Wonga Weekly
Week 4, Term 2
🗓️. Upcoming Dates:
Thursday 15th May: Volunteer Childsafe Session (online) 5-5.30pm
Monday 19th May: Curriculum Day
Start of the day
To help our mornings run smoothly, we kindly ask that students are ready to enter the classroom at 8:50am when the bell goes. This gives them time to unpack, settle in, and be ready to start learning right on time at 9:00am. We really appreciate your support with this!
iPads & Headphones
Students have been using their iPads more for learning in the classroom. To assist with this can you please ensure the following:
-iPads come to school fully charged every day, this ensures that the iPad is ready for use when we use them, often iPads will be used for learning tasks and if a student doesn't bring their iPad (often leaving the student sad too!)
-screen time passcodes are deactivated during the school day
-safari is downloaded on your child's device
-if your child has headphones they may like to bring these in to assist when completing independent tasks on their iPads
CURRICULUM

Please see below our phonics focus for this week and our literacy focus.
Grade One Students
Grade One's will be completing lesson 54 a_e and lesson 55 i_e. They will be learning about vowel-consonant-e (VCe) which is a spelling pattern in which a silent e at the end signals a change from the short vowel sound to a long vowel sound (e.g., kit → kite).

Grade Two Students
Grade Two's will be completing lesson 77 ar and lesson 79 ar, or, ore, controlled vowels. When a vowel is followed by an R, the sound of the vowel often changes and is said to be controlled by the vowel. There are three main r-controlled vowel sounds: the /ar/ sound, as in barn; the /or/ sound, as in corn; and the /er/ sound, as in fern, bird, and curl.
