MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST - Tomorrow morning in the hub from 8am

SCHOOL ENHANCEMENT SESSION - SATURDAY, 9-11am. Please feel free to come, even if you haven't signed up. Lots of jobs to do!

Dear St Michael’s School families,

Prayer: On the Road to Emmaus

Lord Jesus,

You walked the dusty road to Emmaus,

beside hearts weighed down with sorrow and confusion.

You listened to questions, bore their grief,

and gently revealed Yourself through the Word and the breaking of bread.

Walk with me, too, Lord,

when I journey through doubt,

when my faith falters,

when I do not recognize Your presence.

Open my eyes to see You in the quiet moments,

in the kindness of a stranger,

in the sacredness of Scripture,

and in the stillness of prayer.

Let my heart burn within me,

as You speak truth along my path.

Break through my distractions and discouragements.

Stay with me, Lord—for evening falls, and I need You near.

May every step I take bring me closer to You.

May every encounter be touched by Your love.

And when the road feels long,

remind me that You are already beside me.

Amen.

MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST & GIFT STALL

We look forward to our Mother's Day breakfast with mums or special friends to be held tomorrow morning in the hub from 8am. We will conclude this event with a prayer together before the children go to their classrooms at 9am. Children may place schoolbags in their usual places when they arrive at school. During the school day the Mother's Day gift stall will be held where children can select something from the many items on display.

SCHOOL ENHANCEMENT SESSION

We welcome all parents to attend this Saturday's Enhancement Session from 9-11am and to join us for a BBQ directly afterwards. Please bring shovels / rakes / secateurs / hedge trimmers if you are attending.

NForma PARENT PORTAL - ADVICE OF STUDENT ABSENCE

A reminder to all families to please use the NForma Portal to notify the school when your child is going to be away or late or needs to be collected early. We understand this in a change in systems and appreciate the change in thinking around this.

YEAR FIVE / SIX CAMP - SOVEREIGN HILL

Our Year Five / Six level will be attending their annual camp from Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th May next week. This year's camp is at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat and the children are greatly excited about the event. Eloise Ellis will be at camp the whole time. I will be attending on Wednesday and overnight, then attending a Principal Conference on Thursday 8th May in Melbourne City. I will return to school on Friday. I will remain on email if you need to contact me but please be aware responses may be a little slower than usual.

ST MICHAEL'S STUDENTS' CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to all our students in Years three to six who participated in our local Cross Country event on Tuesday this week at Warner Reserve. This event can sometimes bring about some nerves, particularly for some of our younger competitors, but all the students ran with confidence and perseverance. Details of those who went through to the District Level will be released shortly.

LEVEL NEWSLETTERS

Next week, you will receive Year Level newsletters from your child’s classroom teachers. We encourage you to take a few moments to read through them, as they offer valuable insight into your child’s learning for the term. By engaging with what your child is exploring in class, you can help deepen their understanding and support them in making meaningful connections with the topics.

SECONDARY STUDENT FOR A DAY EXPERIENCE

Yesterday our Year Four students were invited to Salesian College or Avila College to experience a day in the life of a Secondary School student. They engaged in activities such as Science, Art, Soccer and music. The students had the chance to meet the staff  and really get the feel of what it's like in a Secondary classroom. We thank our local colleges for arranging these experiences for our students which gives a little insight into Secondary School and assists with that transition from Year Six into Year Seven.

CLOSURE DAY THIS TERM

We remind families that on Friday 6th June, St Michael's will hold it's next closure day. This is the Friday before the King's Birthday (Monday 9th June). TheirCare has been notified of this day so please book in for care on this day if required.

HOOP TIME TRIALS

No doubt the children have been coming home to share with you that they have been undertaking Hoop Time trials this week and last week. This program is an initiative of Basketball Victoria with the aim of bringing children in Years Three to Six from all over Victoria together for a single-day round robin tournament held at basketball stadiums across the state. St Michael's students who are selected to represent our school participate in this at the Nunawading Basketball stadium in Burwood. We thank Mr Lo Ricco for his organisation of the trials and the event and wish the students all the best on the day!
