From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
Yesterday you would have all received an email with the exciting announcement that Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools were successful in recruiting a new Principal for our school. Kathryn Murphy an experienced educator and leader who is currently the Principal of St Luke's Primary in Wantirna will be commencing at St Bede's on day one of Term Three ! I am sure our community will be very welcoming to Kathryn and we as a staff are very much looking forward to meeting her in the coming weeks.
There was a sense of excitement yesterday at St Bede's as a media crew from MACS arrived at our school to photograph our beautiful students and families! The companion material to the Vision for Instruction is being launched mid year and it is called the Vision for Engagement. St Bede's was chosen to be the primary school model for the Vision for Engagement as we had been recommended for being a school that does 'engagement' so well! Thankyou all so much for embracing this opportunity for our students, families and staff to literally model the positive relationships we are building at our school both inside and outside of our classrooms. We are really looking forward to seeing the photos and promotional materials this will generate. We will be able to use the photos for future marketing of our school and to update our school website. If you are a website designer or know of one that could help us out please contact me at: principal@sbedesbn.catholic.edu.au
Mother's Day Stall
Many thanks to our Parent's Association reps who planned for and facilitated today's Mother's Day stall. The students were thrilled with the selection on offer and I am sure there will be some delighted mothers and carers receiving these special little gifts on Sunday morning!
Science Incursion
Yesterday our Year 5 and 6 students attended a Mad About Science Incursion in our school hall. The senior students participated in activities focusing on electrical circuits, conductors and insulators. The incursion came about through student 'feedback' to teachers where they expressed interest in these science concepts and they thoroughly enjoyed this 'hands-on' experience.
Cross Country 2025
Thankyou to Mr Price, all staff and parents that worked together to make last Friday such a successful day for our school Cross Country. We were once again blessed with a beautiful sunny day and the children all enjoyed running to the best of their ability and being cheered on by both their peers and parent community!
Mr Price is currently in the process of contacting families and organising the next stage where approximately 50 of our students will compete at the District Interschool Cross Country on Friday the 16th of May.
Running Club
We have been pleased to have had a couple of great turn outs at our recent running clubs. I am sure many of our attendees will benefit from their running practice. Our running club will continue on Friday mornings 8am at Myrtle Park. Please email Mr Price if you need any further details.
PREP Enrolments - the time to enrol is now!
Prep enrolments are continuing to come in and we are currently organising enrolment interviews.
If you know of someone who is yet to enrol their child please encourage them to do so ASAP. Prep Enrolment interviews will be taking place in late May.
Assemblies
We would love more parents to come along and enjoy our school assemblies with us! They are now held on a Monday afternoon at 2.30pm in the school hall. This term they are in weeks 2,4,6,9 and 11.
Kindest regards,
Amanda
