Open letter from a WEPS student

In science the Year 5/6's were focusing on the impact humans are having on the enviornment. The students were asked to choose something in the enviornment that they wanted to fix. Ella chose to address the overuse of plastics in supermarkets.
She sent a letter to Coles addressing her concerns and provided a great idea to help them get started on the change.
She also wrote to the Standard newspaper and was lucky enough to have it published!
Open letter to Coles supermarket - by Ella Cheeseman
Dear Coles,
I love your supermarket, but you really need to change it.
You see all over the world that plastic is harming our environment in a really bad way, polluting and damaging our water that we drink and the water that other living things need to survive.
There are heaps of different options much better than plastic, you can use biodegradable bags or cloth bags/fabric bags. I'm saying you need to ditch plastic bags and plastic packaging all over your supermarket. Do you think you need double plastic packaging on apples? It seems like a big change, which it is, but I can help you. I will start a fundraiser in town to get you going and before you know it you would have helped our town by playing your part to reduce plastic waste.
