Grade 6

English

This term, Grade 6 students are beginning a new Core Knowledge unit: The French Revolution. They will be exploring the prominent Enlightenment thinkers in France and  their ideas, as well as which ideas spread across France. At a sentence level, the focus will be on combining and punctuating 3-4 simple sentences using knowledge of conjunctions, pronouns, relative clauses and appositives. We will continue to strengthen our skills in planning, and writing strong and concise paragraphs.

Mathematics

This term, we are continuing to practice our number fluency for 4 minutes each day. Throughout this fortnight, we will be focusing on probability. Students will be learning how to:

-Apply probabilities to real-life situations.

-Identify the effects of increased trials in chance experiments.

-Comparing expected and actual results of chance experiments.

-Verify the accuracy of chance experiment results.

Inquiry

This term, Grade 6 students are delving into the history of Barwon Heads, as it is the school's 150th year. This fortnight, we will be navigating online texts with information about the history of Barwon Heads. Students will be using their research notes to create class quiz questions. These questions will be used to create a class Blooket (online quiz).
