Grade 2

English 

In Week 1, the Grade 2's will begin a new Core Knowledge unit, 'Inventors and Inventions.'

 They will explore questions such as: 

• What is an invention and an inventor? 
• How are early Indigenous Australian inventions still influencing people today? 
• How have transportation inventions changed the way we move from one place to another? 
• How has the evolution of writing technologies influenced the way we communicate? 
• How have Australian inventions helped people around the world? 
• How have toys evolved through history? 

The students will learn to use possessive adjectives, eliminate irrelevant details and create a single paragraph outline. 

Mathematics 

Students will learn about folding paper into halves, quarters and eighths. They will also learn about 3D objects and focus on new fluency practice routines.

Inquiry

This term, we will be focusing on the history of Barwon Heads as we celebrate 150 years of Barwon Heads Primary School. In Week 1 and 2, we will be exploring the questions: 

• What is history? Why is 150 years important to BHPS?
• How has Barwon Heads changed over time?
• What did the town look like when it was first established?
