Foundation - Spotlight on Learning

We have had another successful week in Foundation! Upcoming in Week 3 we have our Mother's Day celebration, as well as our community mass. Please read the 'upcoming events' section for more information. 

Next week, Week 3 of Term 2, we will be learning and engaging in the following: 

Religious Education Focus

We will be learning about the story of Mary. We are learning about why she was chosen to be Jesus' mother. 

English Focus

We will continue to learn Stage 2 sounds, ' l' and 'v'. We will be building words using these sounds, such as dog, lap, fan, lid. We will continue to read words with Stage 1 and Stage 2 sounds. Please check the reading pouch for the sound sheet every Monday.

Mathematics Focus

We are working with numbers from 0-20 using number tracks, counters and 10s frames. We are practicing counting, building numbers and recognising numbers. 

Social and Emotional Learning

This week we are learning about positive coping skills we can use when we face a challenge. We are strengthening our knowledge on self-regulation strategies. We are working on accepting mistakes as a positive part of our learning. 

Auslan Focus

We are learning that intentional facial expressions, such as raising an eyebrow supports our communication with Auslan. We are learning to raise our eyebrows when asking a question using Auslan. 

Reminders

No toys, stickers or pencil cases at school please. Students have everything they require for fun and learning supplied at school! If toys, stickers or other items are brought from home, teachers will remove the item and return it at the end of the day.

Please ensure you are packing your child brainfood each day!
