Leadership Communication

My Lord and My God

READING THE SIGNS

In any process of improvement or growth we need to pause and measure our impact and progress towards our goal. Our teachers do this each day using a 'Check for understanding' strategy with our learners. Often this uses a small whiteboard and pen where children can respond to a prompt or question and display it to the teacher, giving him/her quick feedback about how the individuals and group are progressing in learning a particular concept. Ask your child about how they use mini-whiteboards and how it helps them in learning.

Our staff have been participating in review of our progress towards the annual goals for the school. Using questions and a variety of evidence sources progress was identified and the next steps clarified.

Focused Action Research Projects Across Learning Areas

At our school, classroom and specialist teachers are engaged in action research projects in either English, Mathematics, and Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), each semester. These projects are designed to identify key challenges in teaching and learning, explore evidence-based solutions, trial new approaches in the classroom, and reflect on their impact. This ongoing cycle of professional inquiry ensures that our teaching practice continually evolves to meet the needs of all students.

Each semester, teachers focus on different learning areas, allowing for deep, targeted professional growth over time. This work is led by our dedicated middle leaders, who guide and support their colleagues through the research and reflection process, helping foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. Over the next few weeks we will share some aspects of the research projects with families.

Finally a big thank you to Hermione and Ava, two of our Year 6 students, who represented our school at the Cranbourne cenotaph Anzac Day service.

Looking forward to seeing many of you at our Mother's Day event on Thursday 8th May.

Have a lovely weekend,

Kate Dourley,
