SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE

Results are in!
On Friday 6th, a group of our Year 9 and 10 students competed in the Science and Engineering Challenge, taking on a range of hands-on engineering and design tasks against strong competition from across the region.
Overall, our team placed 5th, which was an impressive result given the calibre of schools involved this year.
Even better, our students didn’t go home empty handed, achieving the highest score on the day in 3 of the 8 challenges:
- Aeroplane design and launch
- Communications
- Wind turbine design
An outstanding effort saw two of these top scores achieved by a single team, highlighting the skill and teamwork of our students.
In the bridge building challenge, the structure proved very strong, however, a few bumps meant the weighted trolley was unable to complete the full transit. The Eco-Habitech house design also performed well, scoring highly before eventually buckling during the final weight test.
Overall, it was a fantastic day of problem solving, teamwork and innovation. All students represented the school exceptionally well and should be very proud of their efforts.
