CLONTARF AND STARS NEWS

Clontarf Induction Camp

Our Year 7 Clontarf Induction Camp was held on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th March, providing a fantastic opportunity for our newest academy members to connect, learn and build relationships.

The camp began with a great session introducing the boys to Clontarf values, along with expectations around school, behaviour and community. Year 12 Clontarf leader Richard Sines also spoke with the boys about the importance of strong school attendance and positive behaviour, reminding them that these things open the door to opportunities such as camps and academy activities.

The group then travelled to Copeton Dam, where they set up camp and enjoyed a BBQ lunch together. The boys had a great time cooling off at the Northern Foreshore water park, followed by an afternoon of fishing, swimming and games of footy and cricket, giving everyone the chance to get to know each other and build rapport.

A little rain on Thursday afternoon didn’t dampen spirits, and a night camping under the stars made the experience even more memorable.

A fantastic start to the journey for our Year 7 Clontarf boys.

Stars Induction Trip

Our Year 12 STARS students recently attended a two-day induction trip to the UNE Oorala Aboriginal Centre in Armidale, where they had the opportunity to experience a small taste of university life.

During the visit, students participated in a range of introductory sessions across different study areas including Nursing, Sport and Exercise Science, and Teaching. These sessions gave students insight into potential career pathways and what studying at university might look like.

Students shared that some of the highlights of the trip included meeting new people, exploring future opportunities and getting a real feel for life at university.

A big thank you to the team at Oorala Aboriginal Centre for hosting such a valuable and inspiring experience for our students.
